Lanham, MD (October 24, 2023) – A pedestrian lost their life as a result of an automobile accident that took place in the Lanham area. The accident occurred just after 4:00 a.m. on October 21.
According to reports, a 28-year-old man, identified as Franklin Membreno Mendez of new Carrollton, Maryland, were struck by a vehicle in the 7500 block of Ardwick Ardmore Road.
Authorities arrived at the scene and located the victim suffering from traumatic injuries. He was pronounced dead on site by responding officers.
Authorities determined that Mendez was driving in the 8900 block of the Annapolis Road. For unknown reasons, he became involved in a collision. He stopped his vehicle and exited. As he exited his vehicle, he was struck by another car. Mendez became lodged in the windshield of the second vehicle. The vehicle continue to drive forward and traveled on Ardwick Ardmore Road. After a short period, the pedestrian fell off on the side of the roadway, where he was discovered by law enforcement.
The involved vehicle, identified as a gray Honda Civic, fled the scene.
At this time, investigations are underway.
