California, MD (July 4, 2023) – Two people were transported to area hospitals with injuries following a crash that occurred in California on Monday, July 3.
At around 3:42 p.m., the St Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office was notified that a gray sedan was involved in a collision on St Andrews Church Road. The impact of the crash sent the vehicle off the roadway near Fairgrounds Road.
Authorities arrived at the scene and located the vehicle with two people trapped inside. Firefighters extricated the trapped victims. The driver and passenger were both flown to Capital Region Hospital for the treatment of life-threatening injuries. After arriving at the hospital, the passenger passed away from their injuries. The victim was identified as 96-year-old Francis Rowan. The driver of the vehicle was later identified as 74-year-old Susan Blizzard.
At this time, the police department is investigating the crash.
